Why the "Church" is disavowing Koos Nolst Trenite

We will never know if Koos Nolst Trenite would have become dangerously insane without the "help" of the "Church" of Scientology[tm].

But it is clear that at the very least, Scientology drove him further into delusion and madness. It taught him to believe in his delusions as truth, in feverish imaginings as "science", and in psychiatric medicine as the worst enemy imaginable.

Numerous critics of Scientology on a.r.s. advised Koos that he was irrational and delusional. Many recommended that he seek competent medical advice, and expressed concern for his family.

What did the "Church" *ever* do to help or advise Koos in his madness? They trained him to be insane, and programmed him to avoid treatment. Then they declared him suppressive and offloaded him. They taught him never to seek psychiatric help, yet they were unable and unwilling to help him themselves.

If any of Koos' children are dead at his hands, some of the responsibility falls squarely on the "Church" of Scientology. And from the hysterical and demented postings from "Church" shills trying to link this tragedy to a usenet discussion group, it looks pretty clear to me that they know it, too, are are desperately seeking to point fingers elsewhere.

Koos often said that L. Ron Hubbard was out to destroy him. What he did not understand was that the deed had already been done.

I knew Koos when he was normal. And believe me, he was a normal, fun loving guy. He was intelligent and he was my friend.

He was in training at GOWW for the position on AG. This was in 1974.

He returned to his country and by 1979 he was out of the Guardian's offfice, and under a non enturbulation order for having written attacks on Jane Kember, and other executives.

Within that short 5 year period (1974-1979) he had become seriously unstable. The "Church" disowned him.

But, in 1974 he was their trusted, and honored member. So well thought of, that he was chosen for a year's training at WW.

We can only guess what occurred during his intensive training (which of course would have included extensive security checks and other special "GO"

Eligibility auditing.

He was my friend.

Over these past few years I have tried to communicate,, to find the friend that I felt was buried in there someplace. But, I never even saw a glimpse.

And Monica is right, he would have been thrown out of the church (believe me, they disowned him quickly and without sorrow), with nothing but a huge fear of all that smelled of psychiatry.

How OSA can blame the tragedy that may have happened here on chatting critics is beyond speech.

Some people need to look at their own hands.

Cathy PS Koos is not the only member I know who lost their hold on sanity and reality AFTER having become members.

And those people who are resraining him will be controlled by Hubbard if not Hubbard himself intent on destroying him utterly. He will no doubt try to attack his keepers and try to kill them. I would say the only way to treat him would be to give him ECT, give him heavy medication and keep him in a straight jacket. He is surely a padded cell case and I guess he will have to stay that way.

I don't blame it on Scientology. I blame it on one innocent sounding sentence coming from it. And that is "what is true is what is true for you". Once you run your life on this principle your mind gradually comes apart and you become victim to your own delusions. What is true for you has no validity unless it is a verifiable fact.

If you are a Scientologist reading this then consider that the fate of Koos culd be your fate if you go down this path. Do yu have your engrams audited out? Well consider that in the fifty years of Dianetcis nobody has been able to prove that an engram exists. That being the case then what you are doing could be pure foolishness and self-deception. What about the perfect recall and immunity from colds and flu that comes with being Clear. I am sure you know a few Clears and it is obvious that they do not have perfect recal and they do get ill from time to time. I don't know if you are OT III or above where you audit out body thetans. Do these body thetans exist? If they did then they could be asked to go into the next room and tell you what is there. Has anybody proved they exist in all these fifty years. Thay have not. So why are you doing it?

The first thing to dump from your life is this idea that "what is true is what is true for you". By turning your back on it you will regain your personal integrity to some degree.

A friend in Munich sent me this translation of an article in Abendzeitung on September 22, 2000. The names have been changed to hide the identity of the family, but "Jakobus N" can only be Koos. This tragic event, was the result of a deranged mind driven to violence by the hate spread on a.r.s.

ABENDZEITUNG 22.09.2000 THE MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF FREYA Did the father kill the nineteen year old?

Freya N. was only 19 years old when the ambulance was called to her death on the 25th of December 1999.

When the medical man entered the room, a bad feeling came over him: In the whole house in the small village near Forchheim, the song "Oh Haupt voll Blut und Wunden" (Oh Head full of blood and wounds) by Bach resounded deafeningly.

The father of the deceased, Jakobus N., and his son Nils (18) were standing motionless in the room -- no crying, no sorrow. The doctor called the police. The autopsy established that Freya N. had drowned. Three quarters of a year later, her death is still considered unsolved and the public prosecutor is investigating.

Yesterday morning, the police picked Jakobus N. up in handcuffs -- he was sent to a psychiatric clinic because he was considered to be a public menace.

For several years, his family was subject to his methods of torture. He tortured his wife Carla (named changed) with gushes of cold water. The 60 year old: "What if he has done the same to Freya?"

On that day in December, after Freya's death, Jakobus N. gave a letter, written by Freya, to the criminal police:

"This morning, I took another cold bath of the minutes,"

his daughter had written the morning of the day of her death. Which 19 year old voluntarily takes a cold bath in winter? And notes that down? The answers can be found with Carla N., Freya's mother. After years of torture, she took refuge in the womens' house in Nurnberg in 1997.

When the artist met her husband 24 years ago, he was a member of the Scientology sect. Jakobus' life goal, to move up in the sect hierarchy, was however prevented by sect leaders.

In that time, Freya and Nils were born, and in 1983, Flavia. At that time, the family was living in Heidelberg.

When the weak baby was sick and could hardly breathe, Jakobus forbid calling a doctor or using nose drops, and Carla obeyed. Ten days after her birth, the child suffocated. The doctor attested the sudden death of the child. In the Internet, he later distributes his delusion. "L.

Ron Hubbard was trying to kill him hereafter," Carla N.

describes his frame of mind. Freya had to update the web pages daily. Carla N. succeeded in running away to the women's house, and the children remained with the father. Just after Freya's death, the public prosecutor proposed the father be arrested. Jakobus N. remains in freedom, the police were searching for evidence.

"Did Jakobus N. torture her to death?" a question the mother has been asking herself over and over since then.

The senior public prosecutor Friedrich Kraus is still investigating the death of Freya.

Zurich, Switzerland September 28, 2000 Beobachter Odette Jaccard - Fuchs, Chairman of the AGSD (Aufklaerungsgemeinschaft ueber Scientology und Dianetik) Zurich, passed away on September 26, 2000.

On Saturday, September 23, 2000, Odette was honored in Zurich by the Swiss "Beobachter" newspaper for her civil courage and her information work. She accepted the honor in a wheelchair. It was an important day - a small thank-you for her socio-political work and her last appearance in public.

On that December day after Freya's death, Jakobus N.

gave the police investigators a letter written by her: "Early this morning I took another ten-minute cold bath" his daughter jotted down the morning of the day she died.

How many 19-year-old girls voluntarily take a cold bath in winter? And jot it down? Freya's mother, Carla N.

(60) has some answers. She fled to the Nuernberg house for women in 1997 after years of torture. When the mother, a painter, met her future husband of 24 years, he was a member of the Scientology sect. Jakobus' life goal was to rise to the top of the sect hierarchy, but he was thwarted by the sect leaders.

During that time, Freya and Nils were born, then Flavia in 1983. At that time the family was living near Heidelberg. Even though the frail baby had caught a cold and could barely breath, Jakobus forbade calling a doctor or using nose drops. Carla obeyed. Ten days after its birth the child died of asphyxiation. The doctor attested to the sudden death of the child.

He [Jakobus] later disseminated his deluded concepts via the internet, "He thought L. Ron Hubbard wanted to annihilate him from the great beyond," was how Carla described his state of mind. Freya had to redo those internet pages every day.

While Carla N. managed to escape to the women's home, the children stayed with their father. Shortly after Freya's death, the state attorney applied for a warrant for the arrest of the father - however the magistrate did not see a pressing need of suspicion. Jakobus N. stayed free and the police looked for evidence.

The below is all psychological data. Any Scientologist who wants to reply with an argument to the effect of that psychology doesn't know what it's talking about and Scientology can prevent or treat this problem, please simply respond with "Baaa" and we'll ack your disagreement with this.

Paranoid schizophrenia's tendency to manifest has two facets: heredity and environment. One's susceptibility towards paranoid schizophrenia tends to have much to do with genetics - if one has a family history of schizophrenia, one tends to be much more likely to develop it himself.

However, the amount of stress in one's environment greatly influences whether one manifests this disorder based on one's susceptibility.

Someone with a low but nonzero susceptibility to schizophrenia would require a great deal of stress to be pushed over the edge, whereas someone with a very high susceptibility might be unable to prevent manifesting the disorder no matter how little stress is in his life.

Though there are often warning signs that one is at high risk for developing schizophrenia throughout one's early years, one can maintain sanity until one hits college age or later, when paranoid schizophrenia tends to manifest. The onset of the disorder can be very sudden.

What this means for Koos is that very probably he was predisposed to his insanity (which is probably paranoid schizophrenia) but the stresses of his life (possibly working at the GO) would have triggered it.

I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to decide if being here or being at the GO caused him to go over the edge, but my general conclusion is that NO, it didn't, it was just the way he was.
