First, welcome to alt.religion.scientology. We are so happy to have all the new readers and posters. Stick around, its a fun place.

This newsgroup (ars) has been subjected to a flood of message forgeries over the past few months, mostly consisting of reasonable sounding subject lines stuck together with racist messages copied from other, usually hateful or racist, newsgroups.

It isn't clear exactly who is doing this, but they hop from one ISP to another burning throw-away accounts as fast as the AUP teams can shut them down.

What is clear is that their intent is to fill this newsgroup with disgusting posts that swamp the real posts and drive away new readers.

They also put in forged author headers, so the regulars from this group get associated with the trashy messages that they had nothing to do with. They get archived this way in Deja News and other places, too.

Please don't let them succeed. Just delete the nasty messages. Even better, figure out where the spam got injected into usenet and complain to the abuse desk for that news server.

Don't use your killfile on the author, because that author didn't actually write the disgusting post. You may find the NFILTER program of some help.

Don't drop out or stop reading; that is just what they want.
